Dear MS. Downs,
"Migration" is a terrific picture. It has a wonderful color--you know the one I mean.

Wow, Dana, thanks for all the nice comments about my work. And, no, it's not easy to merge figurative and abstraction. I don't pretend to always get it right, either.
Enjoy your coffee at the Octagon!

You are so right the photo in your blog does not do justice to the work. I've been twice to look at them. LOVE the Sewing something painting. All three figures are very powerful. Although I really like them all. It's obvious that you, (to me), have taken the time out to draw. I love how your paintings are able to express that. Very strong powerful work. I might even go buy a cup at the octagon and study them some more.
I am a fellow painter although no one knows me here. I live in the sticks. I'm just recently attempting to merge my figurative work with abstraction. Damn it's not easy!
Let me know if you ever are doing a workshop.
Brava! to you, well done.

Barbara,
The new rawhide and steel sculptures are terrific. They look Pre-Industrial and Post-Modern at the same time. I like small to mid-size sculpture, but I think these would also be great at the six-to eight-foot scale. Wonderful work.

Cheers,
Tom
